Matt Owens, Pastor

Matt is the founding pastor of Christ the Redeemer Quincy. He and his wife, Naomi, met in Boston and were married in 2015. Their little boy, Liam, was born in the summer of 2017.

Prior to coming to Quincy, Matt served as a pastor in Somerville, Mass. Matt grew up in Bloomington, Illinois. Before moving to the Boston area, he went to college in Tennessee, worked in business in Nashville, and served churches in Ireland and Birmingham. Matt received his M.Div. from Beeson Divinity School.

Besides being a Pastor, he loves spending time with Naomi and Liam, Cubs baseball, and studying history.

Kara Whittaker,
Children's Ministry Director

Kara grew up in rural Montana before moving to Chicago for college, where she met her husband, Tom. They have lived in the Boston area since 2014 and have two sweet and adventurous boys—Jonty and Charlie. Kara has a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and a master’s degree in clinical social work, both from the University of Chicago. She is also a licensed special education teacher and has previously worked as an elementary special education teacher and district behavior specialist in the Boston area.

Kara now works from home creating special education curriculum and chasing after her boys. She enjoys exploring New England with her family and is always on the lookout for a good breakfast spot.

Rebecca Adarkwa,
Church Administrator

Rebecca lives in Quincy with her husband, Kwesi. Before moving to Quincy, they lived several years in Dorchester, where they served on the sound and music team at Christ the King Dorchester (a church). Rebecca is a registered dietitian and lactation counselor and is passionate about public health. Rebecca loves reading (mostly fiction) and hiking (especially with her dog, Addy!).

Sam Ng,
Pastoral Assistant

Sam grew up and lives in Quincy. Prior to coming to Christ the Redeemer Quincy, he served as an intern at the Boston Chinese Evangelical Church. He has a bachelor’s degree in biblical and theological studies from Gordon College and has completed his Masters of Divinity at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Besides serving in ministry, Sam enjoys animated movies and card games.
